Metcalfe Valley Wines

Producing outstanding cool climate shiraz and sauvignon blanc

Metcalfe Valley is a premium vineyard located in the Macedon Ranges region, close to the Heathcote region in central Victoria, Australia.

Metcalfe Valley has 14 acres of mature, producing Shiraz vines planted in the mid to late 1990's with a further 4 acres of Sauvignon Blanc which produced its first harvest in 2007.

The early goal of Metcalfe Valley was to develop a high quality, low yielding cool climate Shiraz. This goal has been realised with Metcalfe Valley Shiraz wines winning gold medals and trophies for the 2001, 2003 and 2004 vintages.

The terroir of the vineyards encompasses the shallow basaltic soils and the sheltered lower northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, producing grapes, which result in a rich purple, complex and spicy Shiraz wine that delights the nose and the palate.

From a family beginning, the vineyard's ownership has evolved to the current syndicated structure with shareholders in a tightly held private venture. The intention is to build on the high quality beginnings and expand the operation.
